The Lee County Community Orchestra (with whom I perform) will hold two holiday concerts on Saturday, Dec 1 at 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm, at the Lee Arts and Community Center (507 N Steele St, Sanford, NC).  We will be performing selections from the Nutcracker Suite and Handel’s Messiah as well as some other holiday favorites.  There will be a chorus and dance as well.

If you happen to be in the neighborhood, come out and see me do tricks with a six-foot violin.  The concert is free and open to all.  It will be quite a good show.

Things I Did Yesterday Paying Attention To Details Instead Of Writing A Poem

I Ching, poetry, prose poem, tongue-in-cheek

I asked the I Ching what I should write about.  It said to pay attention to details.

I went to the post office.  I visited an art gallery.  I took the kids to lunch at a sloppy pelican.  I ate a shrimp po’boy.  I took a shower. I took the kids to the beach.  I listened to my wife. I gave blood.  I told the woman trying to scam change that I didn’t have any (which was true).  I listened to jazz.  I ate pizza.  I fell asleep on the floor.

I did not write a poem. I paid attention to details.

somewhere
satire, mischief,
mayhem territory.

dysfunctional play,
struck asleep-
woken iconic,
lost,
migrated vastness.

disabused mirror
handsome, resigned,
breakfast mourning.
fucking coffee!

peace,
dreaming destinies,
backwater
impish pine
vanishing twilight
prophecy swirling farcical
apocalyptic travesty.
