Thank you Sue. To my father, having and expressing feelings was “dramatic” and was dealt with harshly- even violently. Creativity was out of the question.
Now that he is on his deathbed, the title seems fitting.

I just replaced our garbage disposal in the same spirit- to him I was a bright kid but totally incapable of anything practical.

You know, I had no idea oil paints took this long to dry! I thought of entering this one in the state fair just for giggles (or more to the point, to get the criticism from the judges), but I’m not sure if it’ll be dry by October!
You want to hear something bittersweet? I didn’t know it but my (paternal) grandmother was a painter.
