POETRY, RANDOM THOUGHTS AND STUFF LIKE THAT....
Off-topic, but too long for a tweet:
I ran into a video you might like, but it’s going to take some explanation –
I was working on a Calvino novella called “The Cloven Viscount” (a Jekyll-and-Hyde type medieval fable about a guy who’s split into a bad half and a good half by a cannonball) and stumbled across a video artist who did a Calvino tribute in Rome last year (I’m getting to the point, I promise) – the opening poem by Efisio Cadoni includes a “drone” of “Bene-Male-Bene-Male-Bene-Bene-Male-Male” (good-bad etc) and has some interesting sound quality with the twang of the Jew’s Harp underneath… anyway, when I hear unusual poetic sounds I think of you. Of course, it’s all in Italian, so you have to use your imagination a lot.
Whew… anyway, it’s at this link http://vimeo.com/74194410 if you’re interested. The video art (which also includes some interesting sound) I used for header art follows the poem.
That sounds great! I’ll check it out! Thank you!
That was great!!! I dig the harp repeating “bene male.” Wish I could understand the rest. Thank you!
I think I missed this- I have been neglecting my blog. Sounds interesting! Thanks for the link. How’s the novella coming?
Oh, long done, lots of fun ( http://sloopie72.wordpress.com/2013/12/13/italo-calvino-the-cloven-viscount-1952/ ), on to many more things since then. I don’t think you missed it, since you commented on it back in Dec – it was a long time ago , we all have the memory spans of mayflies 😉
Shows you how fast it’s all moving! Just posted my first poem in 6 weeks. Not sure if I toed the line between appropriation and plaigarism.
