But what’s the point of writing pretty words?
A poem never fed a hungry kid
The poem on the page that’s left unheard
Won’t take away the damage others did
The garbage has to be still taken out
The laundry room is looking like a mess
The tiles in the bathroom crumbling grout
And poems won’t do anything for stress
This foolishness is just a waste of time
You’re better off just getting back to work
And giving up your thoughts of making rhyme
Forget about all this acting like a jerk
The Catcher in the Rye had showed the way
So Lennon had to feel the price to pay

George Winston, poetry, Thanksgiving

Consequence celebrating, disappearing
canescent crimson, fogbound resolution
timekeeping evergreen, countryside space

                                atmosphere, undoing
                                seeing, observing
                                attire, venture on

                                bypassing temperance, repression
                                absurdly evident,
                                dramatic wonder

                                reliant turn, a whisper
                                silent day
                                titanic molecule

a turgid detailed humble mad circumference
a sample random profile cold environment
                                a shadow time

                                a distant pause
                                intermittent paragragh
                                a precedent

                                reticent

Extremely soon,

overnight convert consumers

want hands on suffering

severely constrained

after midnight

a second complained

of extremely disappointing

obvious difference

Let us praise

well-loved impressions

of extremely rare

special-edition blackouts

death metal charisma

the foundation of human civilization.

The streetlights shine a white reflection off the rainy pavement.

The mercury reddened sky flows in from the south with a gentle wind.

The last stray car of the evening  passed by quite some time ago.

a memory, imagined vacant time,
innocent lady, intensely minor leitmotif
confusing melody a parody of sanity remain
a memory, sincere,
poignantly fragrant harmonic caesura counterpoint,
aerophone silhouette array,
painterly composing
          aurora orchid aubergine
a rainbow spectrum spreading in the night
          indigo amber carmine cosmic hue,
          ingenue,
panoramic view
          continue
honorably new

a melody, aware of somber pride,
          brilliantly listlessly imagery endlessly
          hopelessly sympathy dismally vividly
          open
over

a memory
         a melody
one memory
         one melody

a memory, imagined vacant time,
innocent lady, intensely minor leitmotif
confusing melody a parody of sanity remain
a memory, sincere,
painterly composing.

morning sea,

recurring inlet leisurely,
an absolutely hemispheric tranquil uproar centimeter key,
an oscillating emendation backward shaky useless effort disentangled plea,
go comfortably difficulty proposition introverted questionably free,
the open-minded independent hippie skeptic outmaneuvered advantageous difficulty
checkmate surefire up-and-coming always open focus pivot absentee,
or twilight culmination knockout deadline day of judgment glee,
amidships congregation charismatic gyroscopic
captivating spellbound lightship open doorway hypnotizing me,
and sympathetic atmospheric spree,
flow jet propulsion mesmerizing me,
the joyful blastoff captivating me.

words
the silent words, close lingering dreams,
in the wind a distant kiss, just words

                                         hearts opened,
                                         the wind enchanting me,
                                         kind lovely evanescent suffering,
                                         disappearing tenderly

words
the silent words, close lingering dreams
searching wind night moon
just words alone

                                         hearts opened,
                                         the moon inspiring me,
                                         purely blessed harmony gift,
                                         evanescent dream

words
the silent words
the wind
just words alone

                                         hearts opened, play

the words
the silent words
the wind
alone

                                         hearts opened, play

the words
the silent words
the wind
alone

                                         hearts opened, play

the words
                                         hearts opened

the wind
                                         hearts opened

the words

                                         hearts opened
                                         the wind enchanting me,
                                         kind lovely evanescent suffering,
                                         disappearing tenderly

never forget
the only real property
is the property
of the mind
the dreams you hold
close to your heart
the butterflies
on these walls
will watch over you
and carry your dreams
to me as you
prepare the Seder

Would you remember after all these years?
The ’67 Chrysler midnights
The power steering didn’t work, headlights
that needed fixing high beams, rebuilt gears
The dull gray fenders colorless and blight
The brakes rebuilt but squeaking and unsure
No seat belts there to make you feel secure
When chasing after ghosts in the moonlight
We drove out to the woods on autumn nights
out looking for the girl who vanished there-
Resurrection Mary buried where
I’d find you lying in your grave tonight
You dance together on O’Henry’s floor
and no one ever sees her anymore
